Philip Herkenhoff
Head Strength & Conditioning CoachPhilip Herkenhoff is the head strength and conditioning coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). He started with Sanford Sports in 2020.
Herkenhoff’s career began as an intern at MSUM, after which he worked at Northern Arizona University as a graduate assistant. After brief stints with Arizona State University and Concordia University, Herkenhoff served as the head strength coach at Briar Cliff University for nearly six years.
He develops strength, power, speed, agility and endurance through a combination of exercises like weightlifting, plyometrics and conditioning drills. He believes student-athletes should be given the proper tools to succeed rather than expected to develop skills without the proper guidance. He wants student-athletes to enjoy the process and understand it won’t always be the easiest thing they conquer.
Herkenhoff appreciates that Sanford Sports has given him the opportunity to pursue his dream job at his alma mater. He trusts that Sanford Sports will always have the best interests of their athletes and employees in mind.
Herkenhoff holds a master’s degree in educational leadership. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
