
Shane Perkins
High School Strength and Conditioning CoachShane Perkins is a high school strength and conditioning coach at Sanford Sports. He currently serves as the strength coach for Fargo North High School. He started in 2021.
Perkins earned his bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW). He then earned a master’s degree in exercise science from Northern Michigan University (NMU).
While at UWW, Perkins served as a strength and conditioning intern working with the cross country and track and field teams. He later worked with the basketball, hockey, golf and cheer teams at the University of Wisconsin. He assisted the weightlifting team at the Olympic training site at NMU, later serving as the interim head coach and leading them to a national championship in 2020.
Perkins’ coaching philosophy focuses on building energy and relationships with his athletes. He builds proper movement patterns and caters to athletes’ individual needs, even in group settings. He strives to make training enjoyable and give his high school athletes knowledge and life lessons they can take with them after they graduate.
Perkins enjoys working at Sanford Sports Performance because he can build relationships with student-athletes and help them reach their goals. He values seeing them work hard in the weight room and seeing them translate their athletic ability to their sport. He loves when students find passion in training as he knows they will carry that discipline with them in all aspects of life.
Perkins has been the strength coach for several individual champions and teams, including:
- University National Champions – Weightlifting (2020)
- North Dakota State Champions – Boys Basketball (2023)
- North Dakota State Champions – Football (2023)
- North Dakota State Champions – Girls Hockey (2022, 2023, 2024)
- Junior National Champion Weightlifter – Adam Jarski (2023, 2024)
Perkins is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
