Youth Fargo Basketball Tournaments

The Fargo Parks Sports Center at the Sanford Sports Complex hosts basketball tournaments for boys and girls throughout the year. Tournaments are a great way to give young athletes more opportunities to learn and compete.

- Sixteen-minute running time halves for grades 3-6. Stop time will be the last two minutes of the game if within 10 points.
- Eighteen-minute running time halves for grades 7-8. Stop time will be the last two minutes of the game if within 10 points.
- All girls divisions will use a women’s size basketball.
- Boys 3-6 grade divisions will use a women’s size basketball. Boys 7-8 grade divisions will use a men’s size basketball.
- A minimum of five minutes for warmup. Will depend on timing of previous games.
- Each game will have a three-minute halftime.
- Two minutes stop time for first overtime. First score wins for second overtime.
- Three full timeouts allowed per game. No requirements on using a timeout in the first half.
- Zone defense is not allowed for grades 3-6. Help defense is not a zone, and double teams will regularly happen in help defense.
- Zone defense is allowed for grades 7-8.
- Pressing allowed for grades 6-8 unless team is ahead by 15 or more points.
- Pressing is only allowed for grades 3-5 in the last two minutes of the game unless team is ahead by 10 or more points.
- Six individual fouls allowed per player before being disqualified.
- Bonus free throws will be shot on each team’s tenth team foul of each half. No double bonus.
- Each team must supply one scorekeeper for each game for the clock or book.
- Two coaches and one scorekeeper will receive free wristbands.
- Team check-in will be at the main entrance admissions table to receive your three free wristbands.
- Teams are required to supply their own basketballs for warmups.
- Concession stands with various food and drink items will be available.
- Teams will also follow all National Federation of State High School rules.
