Sanford Sports Complex honored with prestigious 2025 Visitor Industry Business Award

The Sanford Sports Complex was recognized this week by Experience Sioux Falls at the 2025 Visitor Industry Awards with the annual “Business Award.” This distinction recognizes an individual, business, or organization in the visitor industry who exemplifies innovation, creates impact, and causes our region to shine as a visitor destination.
“Thank you to Experience Sioux Falls for this tremendous honor,” said Steve Young, president of Sanford Sports. “The goal of the Sanford Sports Complex is to increase opportunities and provide transformational experiences for our community. From premier Division I basketball and volleyball games to Division II championships and so much more, the Sports Complex has established itself as one of the best sporting destinations in our region. To be recognized as the ‘Business of the Year’ is a testament to the hard work of our entire Sanford Sports team.”
Since opening in fall 2012, the Sanford Sports Complex strengthened Sanford Health’s commitment to sports performance in the region. The Complex hosts more than 2.7 million visitors annually, giving athletes and fans the resources they need to train, compete and cheer on their favorite teams.
The 500-acre campus is anchored by the Sanford Fieldhouse and Sanford Pentagon. Over the past decade-plus, several facilities have been added including the Sanford Diamonds, Sanford Crossing, Great Shots, Blue Rock Bar & Grill, Scheels IcePlex, Huether Family Match Pointe tennis facility, Power & Grace gymnastics as well as hotel accommodations through Comfort Inn & Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites.
