Sanford Pentagon to host MMA event in August

Posted: June 19, 2025

MMA returns to the Sanford Pentagon on Friday, August 15 with a card from Legacy Fighting Alliance.

The main event is a clash between former LFA middleweight champion Lucas Fernando and Dana White’s Contender Series veteran Phillip Latu for the vacant light heavyweight world title.

The Co-Main Event will feature a battle of undefeated prospects for the vacant LFA Middleweight Title – Josh Moore vs. David Allakhverdiev.

The main card includes former UFC fighter Devin Clark (14-9), a Sioux Falls native known throughout the fighting world as "Brown Bear" taking on Bevon Lewis (7-6) in a heavyweight bout. Clark is making his 5th appearance at the Sanford Pentagon, where he is 4-0 all-time.

LFA 214 begins at 5:30 p.m. with the entire main card available worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 8 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.

“We’re excited to showcase another excellent MMA event at the Sanford Pentagon,” said Jesse Smith, Sanford Sports vice president of operations. “We know LFA will deliver an exciting card for the fans. It’s always great to highlight some of the best up and coming talent in the MMA world.”

Fernando (11-3) returns to the LFA Octagon looking to make history. The Brazilian captured LFA gold at middleweight in 2023 and now moves up to pursue a second divisional title. A disciple of MMA legend Pedro Rizzo, Fernando brings elite muay thai and finishing instincts, with 7 of his 11 wins coming by knockout or submission.

Latu (7-2) is a DWCS vet known for his knockout power, with 6 of his 7 wins coming by finish - 4 in the first round. He now has the opportunity to claim LFA gold in his first title shot.

Allakhverdiev (6-0) is a submission specialist from Ukraine with a 100-percent finish rate. He has the opportunity to claim LFA gold in his LFA debut.

Moore (6-0) also makes his LFA debut. He puts his unblemished record on the line in hopes of becoming yet another Canadian to wear the LFA belt.

This is the second LFA event hosted by the Pentagon this year. LFA 207 took place on April 18, featuring South Dakota State alum Cheyanne Bowers earning her 6th professional victory in the women’s flyweight over Elizabeth Rodriguez.

Tickets for LFA 214 are available now at Ticketmaster and at the Sanford Pentagon box office.
