Minnesota vs. San Francisco men’s basketball game to highlight Coaches vs. Cancer

The Minnesota Golden Gophers matchup against the San Francisco Dons on November 22 at the Sanford Pentagon will shine a spotlight on the work of Coaches vs. Cancer and cancer care at Sanford Health. The fight against cancer will be highlighted throughout the game, which is streaming live on Peacock at 4:30 p.m. CT.

The Coaches vs. Cancer (CvC) program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Since 1993, this initiative has leveraged the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. The American Cancer Society is a leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. For more than 110 years, the organization has been improving the lives of people with cancer and their families by combating cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensuring everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

This meeting marks the fourth trip to the Pentagon for Minnesota and the debut appearance for San Francisco. Limited tickets are still available online.

Minnesota vs. San Francisco marks one of nine Division I games scheduled to be played at the Sanford Pentagon this season, which tips off Nov. 3 featuring three mid-major contests as part of the “Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon”: Murray State vs. Omaha, Drake vs. Northern Arizona, and South Dakota State vs. Merrimack. That’s followed on Nov. 10 by a men’s matchup between Iowa State and Mississippi State, a Nov. 15 men’s showdown between Nebraska and Oklahoma, a Nov. 16 women’s contest between Nebraska and North Dakota State, and a Nov. 20 women’s matchup featuring South Dakota State and Gonzaga. The Gophers vs. Dons game follows on Nov. 22, with a men’s showdown between South Dakota State and Wyoming concluding the Pentagon’s college basketball slate on Dec. 15.
