Riley Burke
Strength & Conditioning CoachRiley Burke is a strength and conditioning coach at Sanford Sports Performance in the Black Hills. He started in 2026 and is currently based at Sturgis Brown High School.
Burke attended Black Hills State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He then joined the strength and conditioning team at Rutgers University and primarily worked with their football program. He later returned to his hometown of Sturgis, South Dakota, and worked independently as a strength coach.
His training style focuses on athletes’ biomechanics and the structure of their movement. Burke believes moving well is crucial to an athlete’s performance and focuses on developing their nervous system to respond optimally during a live game. He uses a combination of high/low, triphasic, speed-focused and westside styles of training to offer programs year-round for a variety of sports.
He is excited to bring his motivated, confident energy to the Black Hills and give back to his alma mater. He is a firm believer in leading by example, teaching his athletes through his own passion and discipline to help them develop the effort necessary to improve daily. He is also excited to enjoy everything the Black Hills has to offer alongside his dog.
Burke is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also USA Weightlifting Level 2 (USAW-L2)-certified.
