The South Dakota High School Activities Association has awarded the 2027 South Dakota Class A and Class B state softball tournaments to the Sanford Diamonds in Sioux Falls. Both tournaments will take place June 3-5, 2027 with June 2 being designated as a practice day for participating teams.

“We are honored to play host to the 2027 SDHSAA state softball tournaments,” said Jesse Smith, vice president of Sanford Sports. “The Sanford Diamonds have been an amazing addition to the Sanford Sports Complex, providing a world-class facility for athletes, teams, and leagues across the Midwest. We’re excited to see champions crowned on these fields next summer.”

Opened in 2023, the Sanford Diamonds are a 1.7 million-square-foot turf project that features five FieldTurf softball fields and five FieldTurf baseball fields. All fields include lighting for night games, bullpens, and digital scoreboards.

"We are beyond excited to host the Class A and B SDHSAA state softball tournaments at Sanford Diamonds in Sioux Falls in 2027,” said Dan Swartos, SDHSAA executive director. “The SDHSAA and Sanford Health have been partners for nearly 25 years. The Sanford Diamonds and the Sanford Sports Complex are elite facilities and will provide a championship level experience for the players, coaches, officials, parents, families, and fans who will participate in and attend the event.”

The state softball tournaments will be the 2nd SDHSAA championship played at the Complex in 2027, as the Sanford Pentagon will host the Class AA girls basketball tournament at Heritage Court in March. The Pentagon previously played host to the 2023 Class A girls tournament and the 2024 Class AA girls tournament.
