SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Huether Family Match Pointe has been awarded the Boys 16-Under USTA National Level 2, February 6-8. This will be the largest junior tournament to ever take place in South Dakota.
The tournament will feature the top 32 boys in the 16-under division in the country that register. Due to USTA National COVID-19 guidelines, the doubles will not be held, making it a singles only event.
“This is a massive tournament for us to host here. Who would have thought Sioux Falls, South Dakota, could ever host a USTA National Level 2 tennis tournament?” said Mark Vellek, executive director of Match Pointe. “We stood out as a prime facility for this event being a tennis-only facility that has been able to safely host tournaments throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We have video streaming capabilities on all our courts which makes us attractive during a time that we need to limit spectators.”
Match Pointe is no stranger to hosting high level junior events, as it has held USTA National Level 3 events three times. The facility now has 13 tournaments on its 2021 schedule ranging from Level 6 events up to Level 2 tournaments. The NCAA DII NSIC championships will also come to Match Pointe in April.
“It has been a goal of ours to create tennis opportunities for all levels of players so I'm really proud of how many tournaments we've been able to create in Sioux Falls ranging from beginner to advanced levels. It's truly pretty amazing," said Vellek.
