Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph will be the featured speaker for the fifth annual Argus Leader Sports Awards, to be held June 6 at the Sanford Pentagon.
Sanford Health is the presenting sponsor for the event, which will honor high school athletes, coaches, teams and community members for their achievements during the 2019-20 school year.
“This is a great opportunity to share my story and help pay tribute to some outstanding high school athletes,” said Rudolph, who follows Peyton Manning, Cal Ripken Jr., Jordy Nelson and Kirk Cousins as featured speakers.
The nine-year veteran started all 16 regular-season games for Minnesota, catching 39 passes for 367 yards and six touchdowns. Since being drafted in the second round in 2011, Rudolph has hauled in 425 passes for 4,154 yards and 47 touchdowns, putting him fifth all-time in franchise history in catches and TDs.
The Argus Leader Sports Awards are an annual event that honors more than 100 high school athletes from across the state, culminating with the unveiling of boys and girls athletes of the year.
Last year's top athletes were Chamberlain wrestling and football standout Nash Hutmacher, who has committed to Nebraska for football, and O’Gorman tennis standout Danielle Sebata.
“The Sanford Pentagon is proud to team up with Argus Leader Media once again to celebrate another year of outstanding performances from high school athletes in South Dakota,” said Jesse Smith, vice president of Sanford Sports.
