SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minnesota Vikings fullback C.J. Ham and Detroit Lions running back Zach Zenner will participate in the 2019 Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends free football clinic on June 14.
Zenner and Ham join Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph and former Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway at the clinic, which takes place at Kirkeby-Over Stadium on the campus of Augustana University.
Ham is entering his fourth season with Minnesota. The Augustana graduate did his pre-professional training at Sanford POWER and turned that into a tryout opportunity with the Vikings. The Vikings invited Ham to mini-camp, and he ultimately spent the entire 2016 season with the team, advancing from the practice squad to the active roster. Ham moved to the fullback position in 2017 and has since played in 31 games for the Vikings where he also contributes on special teams. He set a career high in receptions and receiving yards during the 2018 season.
Zenner, a Minnesota native and South Dakota State University graduate, is entering his fifth season with the Lions. Undrafted out of college in 2015, he signed with Detroit as a free agent and led the NFL in rushing during the preseason. Zenner has rushed for 685 yards in his four-year NFL career, scoring eight touchdowns. This May, he signed a one-year contract extension with the Lions.
The Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends program provides learning opportunity for young student-athletes to grow and be inspired in the world of sports by providing different sporting clinics and camps. Each year, celebrity athletes who represent the Legends goals—quality, integrity and character—are brought to Sioux Falls.
The sessions are conducted by professional athletes and the region’s best college and high school coaches who have been recognized as positive role models on and off the field. Parents and coaches also participate in clinics designed to help them further understand their role as mentors while sharpening their coaching skills.
Last year, Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends and Celebrity Football Camp raised a record $220,000 for the Legends Grant Program for area communities. Since 2005, Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends has raised nearly $2.1 million.
Legends is continuing its scholarship program in 2019. The Legends for Kids Scholarship is a $5,000 award given to nine outstanding graduating seniors who have demonstrated exceptional character and leadership in athletics, school and community involvement. The scholarship program was created by Hy-Vee, Sanford, First PREMIER and other valuable sponsors to be used for post-secondary education.
